In obedience to the command of our Risen Lord to: "make disciples of all nations"

Matthew 28:19

St. George's is committed to proclaiming and promoting the gospel of Jesus Christ to all. This is an integral part of our mission to present "every person complete in Christ".

Proclaiming the gospel (Evangelism)

Is simply, telling the gospel. The gospel is the good news from God about his Son, Jesus Christ, who died for our sins, was raised to life, and will return on the Last day as Judge of all and to vindicate those who put their turst in Him. As part of our proclamation, we invite response, that those who hear will turn to God in repentance, believing in Jesus as the one who has saved them from the judgment through His death on the cross.

So Evangelism is the presentation of Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit, in ways that persons may be led to believe in Him as Saviour, and follow Him as Lord within the fellowship of His church.

Clearly, our proclamation of the gospel is only effective as we seek to live it out in our own lives, and in the corporate life of our church. People will not hear our message unless they also see in us a willingness to live accordingly to the gospel day by day - to be living, breathing manifestations of its power to transform lives. We are not perfect - we acknowledge that we are all fallible, sinful human beings, but that in Christ we are loved by God in spite of this. This is a truth worth sharing.
