Evangelism - Sharing the Good News
In obedience to the command of our Risen Lord to: "make disciples of all nations" Matthew 28:19
St. George's is committed to proclaiming and promoting the gospel of Jesus Christ to all.
This is an integral part of our mission to present "every person complete in Christ".
Proclaiming the gospel (Evangelism)
Is simply, telling the gospel. The gospel is the good news from God about his Son, Jesus Christ, who died for our sins, was raised to life, and will return on the Last day as Judge of all and to vindicate those who put their turst in him. As part of our proclamation, we invite response, that those who hear will turn to God in repentance, believing in Jesus as the one who has saved them from the judgment through his death on the cross. So Evangelism is...
... the presentation of Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit, i n such ways that persons may be led to believe in Him as Saviour, and follow him as Lord within the fellowship of His church.
Clearly, our proclamation of the gospel is only effective as we seek to live it out in our own lives, and in the corporate life of our church. People will not hear our message unless they also see in us a willingness to live accordingly to the gospel day by day - to be living, breathing manifestations of its power to transform lives. We are not perfect - we acknowledge that we are all fallible, sinful human beings, but that in Christ we are loved by God in spite of this. This is a truth worth sharing.
Courses and Training
At St. George's we conduct several Christian Courses as a key part of our church's programme through the year.
Alpha (12 weeks) and Christianity Explored (10 weeks) are courses which outline the gospel and address important questions that people have about God and life.
These courses include a meal together, a video presentation, and discussion in smaller groups. Ideal for anyone enquiring about what Christians believe, or just wanting a "refresher".
Two Ways to Live: know and share the gospel
This is a course (4-7 weeks) part of the Equipping You to Serve programme which teaches you how to explain the gospel clearly to someone and invite response. This course will also clarify your understanding of the key elements of the gospel and teach you prayerfulness as you seek to share God's good news with others.

"I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes ... for in the gospel a righteousness from God is reve aled, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last..." (Romans 1:16-17)
